Têtu—which means ‘stubborn’ in French—is the country’s leading gay magazine and its weighty monthly editions are a nationwide platform for the voice of the gay and lesbian community in France. Since it began life in 1995, the magazine has enjoyed steady growth and now sells around 40 000 copies a month.
The publication was last redesigned in March 2009, and is now divided into two separate sections. The first is the magazine proper, with news on culture, fashion, celebrities, travel, lifestyle and health, while the second, Têtu News, covers LGBT news from France and around the world as well updates from local LGBT organisations. The publication also has two websites, têtu.com, for its gay readers, and têtue.com, for its lesbian audience. The sites also host a web radio developed by the Goom Radio group called Têtu Radio.
